*SCT means Standard Completion Time

Aims

1)  For your child to be able to recite words, phrases and sentences as they look at them.
2) To increase your child’s vocabulary by introducing 210 new words to the programme.

Instruction notes – throughout the level

General notes
As in Level 7A, please sit your child in front of or next to you and guide them on a face- to-face basis.

Our aim in this level is for your child to be able to recite sentences from memory while looking at them. It is important however, to know that the ability your child is developing is a step above repeating but a step below reading.

As in Level 7A, have your child look at the words as they say them. Use this guide to view the various examples to see how you and your child point to the words as they say them.

Reciting words and sentences
Pausing briefly prompts your child to say the words on his/her own. When he/she seems able to say the words, allow them to try to do so. However, don’t make the pauses too long. As soon as it becomes apparent that he/she cannot recite the words, use the illustrations as prompts or model read.
