How is your child approaching their Kumon studies now? It is my hope that they are maintaining a daily study routine, completing their worksheets in sequence and ensuring each book is marked and corrected before the next workbook is started. It is also my strong desire to see your child study with purpose. If this is not happening please take the time to see me.
Have you been thinking of stopping Kumon?
Surely this has crossed your mind if your child has lost their motivation. It is hard going attending to your child’s daily commitment to study isn’t it? May I encourage you to reset your commitment and to re-focus if you find yourself in these circumstances and let me know ASAP. Continuing Kumon to see your child two, three, five years ahead of their school grade WILL have a significant impact on their lives so don’t give up just yet.
Unfortunately often it is us, the parents, who quit first. Just remember you are one of few people who has a vested interest in your child’s future so be strong where you can. Students will often quote how grateful they are that their parents didn’t give up on them even at the height of their complaint but instead encouraged them to stay the course especially when the going got tough. This is a team effort so please let us know if you are considering stopping before your child has reached their goal and before you discuss stopping with your child.
Supporting your child
Three of the most vital actions of support you can be doing for child right now is:
- to provide a quiet and uncluttered space for their work,
- to stay in regular communication with Jane and
- to be ready to mark and remark their Kumon worksheets in a timely manner if they don’t have time.
It is a pleasure watching your child develop and supporting him/her on their journey thus far. I look forward to continuing for many months to come.
